Methodology
How we judge
We rank a small number of tools for each job, give every pick a verdict, and attach a date and a source to every price. Anything we couldn’t confirm is labeled Unverified. Money never changes a ranking.
Verification levels
- ✓ Official: price confirmed on the vendor’s official page or docs.
- ◐ Third-party: unverified; seen only on a third-party site.
- ! Unverified: no price source confirmed.
- Model lists are marked Verified, Partially verified, or Unverified on the same basis.
Sponsorship firewall
Paid placements live in a separate dataset from rankings. The build fails if a ranking record carries any paid or sponsored field. Sponsored slots appear below rankings and are always labeled.
FAQ
- How are tools ranked?
- Editors rank tools within a single use case on how well each one does that job: output quality, ease of use for the intended user, how predictable the price is, and how reliable the vendor is. Each pick gets a one-line verdict and a reason for its position.
- Can companies pay to be ranked higher?
- No. Rankings are editorial and never sold. Paid placements are stored separately from rankings, always labeled “Sponsored”, and never appear inside a ranked list.
- What does “Verified” mean on a price?
- We confirmed the price on the vendor’s official pricing page or docs on the date shown, and we link that source.
- What does “Unverified” mean?
- We only found the price on a third-party site, or found no price at all. Unverified prices stay labeled until we confirm them on the official page.
- How often are prices checked?
- Every price shows the date we last checked it. This edition was checked on 2026-10-14. Automated re-checks that flag price changes are planned.
- How do you track rank changes?
- Every leaderboard is saved as a dated snapshot. When a new snapshot is published, each tool shows whether it moved up, moved down, is new, or dropped off since the previous one.
- Do you use affiliate links?
- Not yet. When we do, those links will be disclosed and marked rel="sponsored", and they will never affect rankings.
